On Friday 22nd February Buchdruckerei Lustenau (BuLu) was awarded second place in the sustainability category at the international “Print & Media” Gala evening in Düsseldorf. Former Boxing World Champion Wladimir Klitschko posed with our managing director Christine Schwarz-Fuchs on the night. Over decades we have optimised and developed our business and production processes with economic and ecological impact in mind.
We are proud of our BuLu Team who continue to develop new ideas relating to sustainability in particular our dedicated BuLu-Energy team. Each year the energy team test and implement new processes which allow for continued progress in the area of sustainability.
For almost 10 years we have been offering customers climate neutral printing. In addition, BuLu is certified with FSC and PEFC. Both certifications guarantee that the raw materials for the paper are sourced from a sustainably managed forest.
In April 2010 BuLu was also bestowed the Austrian ecolabel and became the first printer in Vorarlberg to receive the European Ecolabel (EU-Ecolabel). At the end of 2011 we were the first company in Vorarlberg to receive the international „Green Brands” quality seal through a public survey. This was the fourth time in a row Buchdruckerei Lustenau received the Ecolabel making us the first company in Austria to achieve this. In mid-2016 Buchdruckerei Lustenau introduced an Energy Management system according to the ISO 50001 standard. The standard defines the conditions for an energy management system which incorporates improvements to all systems and services relating to energy consumption and the reduction of CO2 emissions and energy costs. The CO2 savings are 387 tonnes per year. The geothermal piles that heat and cool the building make a large contribution to the energy savings, as do the heat recovery systems, compressors and the energy saving cooling systems.
